Why ever?: There has been years of research done to combine these into one safe and effective vaccine and cut the discomfort involved with separate vaccines. They are not available separately.I view those who try to string out the shots based on the musings of a playboy bunny or well meaning docs as misguided. No baby should undergo extra pain over a myth.

No: The dtap is combined to specifically give better immunity. There is no increased risk, and plenty of benefit. The current dtap vaccine is the safest we've ever had, and has saved innumerable lives. Following the vaccine schedules according to the cdc and the american academy of pediatrics is the best way to make sure your child is healthy and protected from serious diseases!

No.: There are a few indications for the td vaccine (tetanus and diphtheria only) but only in adolescents or adults. The combination is actually synergistic - each component helps the others work better - without increasing likelihood of side effects.
