A member asked:

Will getting a vaccination endanger someone else in a household who's on chemo?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends....: It is not recommended that caregivers or household members get FluMist (live attenuated influenza vaccine) if they are in close contact with someone who has recently received a bone marrow or stem cell transplant, or intense chemotherapy. Vaccines made from dead viruses (flu shot) are ok. Other live virus vaccines are typically ok, but it may depend on the chemo treatment. Check with oncologist.
