Is there chance of deterioration after a successful cataract surgery?

Depends: When the eye heals after cataract surgery, the results are usually permanent. There is a membrane called the posterior capsule that is left intact after cataract surgery. This can cloud over time, necessitating a yag laser capsulotomy, which is a procedure usually performed in the office which usually returns the vision back to where it was after the eye healed initially after cataract surgery.

It depends: In general, the vision after cataract surgery is expected to remain good. Sometimes the membrane remnant of the lens opacifies after cataract surgery and obscures your vision--this can be removed using a laser in the office. Ultimately, your long-term vision will depend on any other problems that you might have in your eyes.
