See MD if chronic: What you describe is consistent with gastroesophageal reflux disorder (GERD) which is common but treatable, and need evaluation to optimize. Start with omeprazole or similar, and if chronic should see Gastroenterologist to discuss options. Happy to consult. My recent publication (on PubMed) also highlights endoscopic (non surgical) options given mounting concerns of long-term PPI use.
