"Period" blood smell: If the bleeding is bright red and not dark, then there was a probable vaginal or cervical injury that produced the bleeding. If the bleeding is dark like a period(venous type bleeding) then the "smell" doesn't matter only if the timing of the bleeding indicates that a period should be "coming down the tracks" a this time. Please use contraception in the future to avoid unwanted future "trains".
