Yes: Arthritis can cause swelling that is usually confined to the joint(s) that are afflicted. Some arthritis' are symetrical , meaning swelling/pain of both feet or ankle. There is a possibility that the swelling is due to fuild retention. See a doc the sort out which cause of swelling you have.

Absolutely: There are so many causes of swollen ankles that the best thing to do would to be evaluate by ur primary dr., podiatrist, rheumatologist etc.

Possible: Arthritis can cause swelling of the joints- but when you have diffuse swelling (the whole foot and ankle on both sides) it could be several other things. Best to see your primary care doctor to rule out vascular or lymph issues.

Yes: Arthritis in the foot or ankle joints not only hurt, but can be filled with excess fluid and seen as swelling. This is often referred to as an "effusion".
