Likely mittleschmerz: Many women feel small pains around ovulation, before-during-or after - its called mittleschmerz. There are some abnormal causes of pain around ovulation but most often it's normal. Individual women choose different words to describe it, many in my practice describe 'pinging' or 'cramping.'.

Yes: Hormonal changes during mid-cycle may produce the symptoms you described. Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you miss more than two periods it would be time to see your doctor. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time. You may consider implanted contraceptive or an IUD.
