Gravity. Water is: filtered from the blood stream within the nasal tissues (thickened into mucous by addition of polysaccharides & proteins produced/secreted by nasal tissue cells). Lowering your nose to below (versus higher than) heart level ?es BP into nasal tissues & release of water from capillaries. There are also likely additional issues, unique to you; mental, emotional & physical, all playing roles.
