Keep at it: The backed up oil gland secretion is coming to a head after the hot compress, so gentle 30" massage of it is helpful. Continue this process 2-4 times/day until it drains. It may take up to two weeks to resolve. If worsening or no resolution, see an ophthalmologist for evaluation for incision & drainage. Good luck.

Diligence: Most who treat styes with hot compresses (the preferred treatment) do it with limited diligence. You should apply the compresses for 4-5 minutes at a time about 5 times per day This will usually take care of the problem in a 2-4 day interval.
