Could be normal: Uterine bleeding after 20 weeks not related to labor is called antepartum bleeding. Abruptio placenta or placenta previa should be ruled out. Placenta previa is usually picked up by prior ultrasound. Abruptio placenta classically presents with abdominal pain and uterine contractions. The remaining cases of bleeding cannot be determined and frequently attributed to marginal separation of placenta.
