In car , ma slammed on brakes. i was leaned fwd looking at phone ..then went bk & bk of head on both sides ached. already hav tension in neck. ideas?

Whiplash injury: Whiplash injuries occur when there is abrupt backward&then forward motion of the neck when car suddenly breaks. full fledged symptoms usually appear within 24 hours&include pain in neck, painful movements&stiffness due to muscle spasm,headaches and may have numbness in hands or fingers. Most are self limited and symptoms go away with pain meds&muscle relaxants.Rarely serious disc bulge/herniation

Whiplash: This was a classic whiplash injury of the neck-acute strain of the neck muscles and ligaments. Treatment consists of cold applications for 48 hours to minimize swelling and reduce pain and,if you can take them, nsaids like Advil (ibuprofen). Follow this with intermittent warm applications,and if you develop severe neck pain on motion, wear a soft cervical collar off and on. If needed see your physician.
