A member asked:

My mom has neuropathy in her legs and she has 3 knots that feel like a blood vein, bouncy. could those b blood clots she just had a bile stint removed?

I would get her: leg checked for DVT (deep venous thrombosis) following a procedure. Veins can enlarge abnormally in the legs (varicose veins) and form knotty formations, though in her case it should not happen acutely over a few days or weeks. Thanks for trusting in HealthTap.

See answer: If the lumps are just under the skin they may be areas of superficial thrombophlebitis(or something else),in which case the area would be tender. Superficial thrombophlebitis isn't serious but blood clots in the deep veins(DVT) is. Clots in the deep veins won't be palpable just under the skin

Possibly: Your description points to the presence of varicose veins which are enlarged veins on the surface that one can feel and can be mobile in nature. Clots in the deep veins cannot be felt. Varicose veins can indicate poor circulation. Chronic poor circulation can affect small distal vessels leading to neuropathic symptoms. If she has pain associated with these veins, they should be evaluated further.

Difficult to say: Bouncy is a hard to word to understand in your description. 3 knots however are worrisome. Without proper examination it is going to be very difficult to find out if they are blood clots or not. With her history do not take a chance and have it checked out.
