Fluid intake: Throwing up is very common, but if it is severe or prolonged, or if your baby is not keeping down her feedings, it needs attention. If not wetting diapers at least once every 4-6 hours, your baby isn't keeping enough fluid down, and needs to see the doctor right away. It's rare, but newborn vomiting can be caused by obstruction of the stomach (pyloric hypertrophy) that needs treatment
