Spirituality : Hi GabrielleG, this effect is used to describe how spirituality can protect clinicians (in particular mental health workers in the study) from compassion fatigue and burnout from working with patients with challenging cases. In the study they found spirituality ( any religion, any spirituality) is protective of their mental state when faced with high stress situations and cases. Hope that helps
