Infections : Most commonly, neutrophils are increased in response to acute bacterial infections while lymphocytes are increased in response to viral or mycobacterial (tuberculosis) infections and some forms of cancer. Both cell types can be increased in respective type of leukemia. Do not try "self diagnosis" without thorough knowledge. Discuss any blood count abnormality you have with your dr.
