Not in moderation: Not in moderation. Improper fatty food and junk food diet, weight gain, lack of exercise high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol and diabetes and bad genetics clog arteries, not alcohol.

Nope.: In fact, we believe the opposite is true in that alcohol -- in moderation -- may have cardiovascular benefits, including prevention of clogged arteries (atherosclerosis). Please don't go out and binge drink as a result of this news, as binge drinking can adversely affect your liver.

How much, how often?: Alcohol in low doses (1 drink/ day) may in some people delay the process of atherosclerosis. Anything more (2 drinks+/day) will have a net negative effect and can lead to multiple health problems including atherosclerosis. Alcohol metabolism leads to free radicals which interfere with protective mechanisms and stimulates inflammatory processes like atherosclerosis -- "clogged arteries" may result.
