Yes: Plan B ideally should be taken within 3 days of unprotected sex but can be partially effective up to 5 days after sex. Any further out than that, and it will not be effective. Once a pregnancy is established, it will have no effect, and by the time a period is missed (generally about 2 weeks after conception) take a home pregnancy test, then see your dr to discuss if positive.

Agree W Dr. Clear: Plan B One-Step is up to 89 % effective when taken within 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected sex. It continues to reduce the risk of pregnancy up to 120 hours (5 days) after unprotected sex, but is less effective as time passes. Since it has been 5 to 6 days since you missed your period - you can go ahead and take a home pregnancy test now.
