A member asked:

I have a lump under my right breast no pain. i am 55 years old... should i be concerned?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

That depends: Self breast exam has been found to be a very poor way to detect breast cancer and in fact increases worry for many patients without corresponding benefit. Mammograms at least every 2 years in any woman above 50 are an excellent way to screen for breast cancer. Exam by a doctor can help as well. So if mammograms are up-to-date, lumps are less concerning but need a check if growing or you're worried
