A member asked:

11 weeks pregnant. can i get listeria from eating foods that touched raw veggies? i removed lettuce and tomato from a sandwich i ordered and ate rest

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Listeria: Pregnant women are about 10 times more likely to get listeriosis than other healthy adults. Do not drink unpasteurized milk. Do not eat soft or fresh cheeses. Do not eat deli meats or hot dogs unless they are reheated until steaming hot. Diet during pregnancy should include several servings of fruits and vegetables. Wash them before you eat them.
