A member asked:

Hurt rt kidney 12 years ago & today its noticeably painful after getting a mri with contrast yesterday. is this normal & when should i be concerned?

What was the reason: for the contrast MRI? There is a correlation between gadolinium contrast and kidney problems, but it should not be painful after the MRI. There may be another issue altogether. You would need laboratory studies to determine if nephrotoxicity has occurred. Please see a healthcare provider or go to ED for proper evaluation and diagnosis.
