NO: Metformin lowers blood sugar with its major side effect being gastrointestinal. Your symptoms are coincidental and sound like they may be due to a spine problem eg: Disc prolapse Hope this helps! Dr Z

Not particularly: Lower back pain and front side pain is not a common side effect of metformin. However, I would suggest contacting your health care provider because the symptoms have continued to rule out other causes.
