Is it harmful to take a uti antibiotic (nitrofurantoin) with a take action levonorgestrel pill?

They may interfere: with each other. Some antibiotics are known to decrease the contraceptive effect though, and nitrofurantoin is one of them. Please be prepared to use an alternative method of contraception while you are on these antibiotics. Thanks for trusting in HealthTap.
