Lung compression.: Atelectasis refers to a compression of lung tissue due to lack of proper expansion during breathing. The term. "Bibasilar" locates this atelectasis to the bottom of the lungs. Could happen after abdominal surgery,for example, with a reduction of diaphragmatic excursion into the abdomen with inspiration.
