Severe Anemia: 51 y/o male asks For men if hemoglobin is 5.4 what are the causes for it. That is Severe Anemia Normal hemoglobin range for men usually 12.1 to 15.9. So one is losing blood from somewhere in the body &/or not making enough blood somehow. This is a significant issue which should be brought to the Urgent attention of ones PCP, Gastroenterologist and/or Hematologist for some form of intervention.
