Yes: Staphylococcus can cause a pharyngitis. "Staph" can cause infections in other locations, such as skin and blood stream. http://www.cmnewsletter.com/article/S0196-4399(82)80017-2/abstract

Pharyngitis: Staph infections can affect any part of the body- any organ or organ system. It would be important to know 'where' your Staph infection was diagnosed to relate it to the symptoms of pharyngitis that you describe. Usually pharyngitis is caused by a virus (unrelated to Staph) or possibly Strep, as in Strep throat. If your not feeling well see a doc today for evaluation and best treatment.
