Mastocytosis: An over abundance of mast cells in the skin, GI tract, bone marrow, etc (that release histamine) can cause frequent symptoms of allergy including hives. Flushing, more severe reactions to insect stings. The test to assess for mastocytosis is a blood test for tryptase. It's not a true allergy to food, medications, etc, but it can sure seem like it.
