Yes: Leaving in tampons for prolonged periods of time strongly encourages bacteria growth which can infect the labia. When tampons are left in place for long periods of time Toxic Shock Syndrome can occur with fatal consequences. Please change your tampons more frequently (4 to 6 hours) even if they are not totally saturated.
