Vitamin D, Back Pain: I understand your discomfort. Thank you for informing about Synthroid, rapid heart beat. Hypothyroidism can cause muscle aches; Hyperthyroidism can cause rapid heartbeat. Mayo Clinic study- patients with inadequate vitamin D levels taking narcotic drugs required twice as much medication to control their pain as did patients with adequate D levels. Via osteoporosis.: In the long term, vitamin D deficiency can lead to osteoporosis. And osteoporosis can hurt. So yes, vitamin D deficiency can lead to lower back pains if your vertebrae are thinning.
