A member asked:

Why does my blood pressure only go up during my menstrual cycle?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Vasoconstriction: The arterioles of the uterus/endometrium as well as the rest of your body are undergoing vasoconstriction or tightening of the blood vessels which causes a slight increase in your blood pressure. Marked elevations of BP at menses would suggest that you monitor your BP carefully ALL THE CYCLE to determine if it is essential hypertension(high blood pressure) that needs Rx.
