Common: 1/2 of the L5 vertebrae is 'incorporated ' into your sacrum. Sacralization of L5 is a fairly common Xray finding, congenital, and of little significance unless you are a spinal surgeon planning an instrumented fusion of the lumbar spine. Best of Luck!

Fusion : The sacrum is the bottom if the spine. It is a solid bone and does not move. The lowest mobile space in the spine is the disc between the lowest lumbar vertebrae (L5) and the sacrum. Some patients are born with all or part of the L5 vertebrae fused to the scaring making it immobile as well. This then leaves 23 instead of the normal 24 motion segments in the spine.
