This sounds serious: and I'm not sure how you arrived at "may have been a parasite or virus". These things can cause very different symptoms and set of problems. Most viruses can't be cured but parasites can. Muscle pains and joint pains can be manifestations of either. Please go see a healthcare provider for proper diagnosis and treatment.
