Constipation: Initial management in the treatment of constipation include dietary fiber and bulk-forming laxatives such as psyllium or methylcellulose, together with adequate fluids. Forpatients who do not respond poorly to fiber, an osmotic laxative could be tried. Other options include stool softeners, stimulant laxatives (bisacodyl, senna).
