Tough question: There is no consensus that I am aware of on this issue. Patients are individuals and each case should be taken on a case by case basis. Issues to consider include prior responses to medication, substance use issues, family history, current sxs, past sxs, suicidal behavior, past psychiatric hospitalizations, etc, etc....
