No, not safe: Most UTIs will indeed clear on their own, without treatment. But some do not, even if symptoms clear up. If you go forward with an asymptomatic infection, you'll be at risk for flare-up at any time, perhaps including pyelonephritis (kidney infection). Discuss with your doctor.
