You will need to: get a colonoscopy to rule out colon cancer. In this age group it is one of the most common signs of cancer. Other things that can cause rectal bleeding include hemorrhoids (most common), rectal fissures, and other intestinal hemorrhage/ulcers. Rectal bleeding : Men aged 50 and over should get checked with a colonoscopy . See a doctor if you haven't yet had one. If you see blood don't assume it is from hemorrhoids.
