Trauma: It sounds like you may have strained one of your muscles or ligaments. If this is the case, resting the area should help. CPR, if done properly, should not cause the administrator any pain.

Venous thrombosis?: A few people will get a swollen, sore arm after exercising the arm and shoulder, especially if the exercise is unusual for them. This can result from formation of a clot in the veins near the shoulder (known as "effort thrombosis" or "Paget Shroetter Syndrome"). If your symptoms are troublesome, your doctor may wish to order an ultraosound test.
