A member asked:

Can animals such as cats carry streptococcus pneumoniae and give it to a human causing bacteremia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It's normal flora: I usually carry it in my own throat when I've checked it. When it makes is sick, it's somehow gotten out of control. Nobody really understands how it happens, but don't worry about "catching" it. Best wishes.
