Dyspnea: Do you know what is meant by shortness of breath? Shortness of breath feels like the way you would feel if you just ran half a mile. A patient who has true shortness of breath has disease of either the heart or lungs. There are no other possibilities. You say you are short of breath while standing and when you awaken in the morning. This doesn't make any sense. If you are worried, go see a doctor.

Shortness of breath: is a very general and vague symptom with many possible diagnoses. If it is shortness of breath associated with difficulty breathing, dizziness, palpitations (heart pounding) or pain in the ribcage, you probably need to go to a hospital emergency room to get checked out. Otherwise please see a healthcare provider for proper diagnosis and treatment. Thanks for trusting in HealthTap.
