A member asked:

If you have had a large (15 cm) benign complex cyst in the past 5 years and develop a 5 cm complex cyst on the same ovary, does the likelihood of the new cyst being malignant increase? symptoms are severe, i.e. nausea if eating, extreme pain, breast pain

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: Do you happen to know what type of cyst it was? Some benign cystic lesions have a high recurrence rate on the same or opposite side, so more info is needed. Ovarian cancer at your age is thankfully uncommon except in BRAC/BRCA gene carriers.
