Nothing?????: Really? Derm. must have said SOMETHING!!! You do not give enough information. The exam by the DR is the important thing. If the person is older than puberty scalp fungus is not likely. If there no scabs, scales, hairless spots, etc., culture is not indicated. A culture is usually of interest after it is already determined that there is infection, just to identify which fungus.
