Radiation Medicine: Radiation therapy (xrt), is the term for medical use of ionizing radiation radiation oncology is the science for the use of radiation for cancer treatment to control or kill malignant cells. Therapeutic radiology is the more encompassing term that describes the use of radiation for therapeutic purposes both benign and cancer treatment. All 3 terms are often used interchangeably.

Oncology: Is a specialty studying tumors and their treatment, 'therapy' invokes the concept that the radiation may be used to treat tumors, but also other thing, like keloids, for a while, coronary stents, wet macular degeneration, and some of us use isotopes like i-131 to treat hyperthryroidism.
