Miscarriage: is just common. estimates up to 1 in four (but most would be so fast as un-noticed; we get several questions a day about 'funny periods' that are probably those). ONE certainly is not predictive of future success (except it means fertility IS working).

Miscarriage: sorry about the miscarriage. When it comes to why it happens, typically it is that something was genetically damaged with the embryo. If someone has three miscarriages then typically OB doctors will look for a cause associated with the mother. It is no one's fault. As to when her next period will be, no one can be certain, typically within about 6 weeks though.
