I started spotting on sunday 18th and it was bright red. it got heavier and still bright red but sometimes it has a pink ish colour.

Sometimes it is hard: to know whether you are spotting or are having a brief, early period. The line between those two is quite blurry. The pinkish color just means there is more mucus mixed in. Many factors: are you sexually active, using contraceptives, is your period usually regular, do you have symptoms/signs of infection? If you could possibly be pregnant do a test. Otherwise see doc if bleeding persists.
