Depends.: First, be very sure that Alzheimer's is the proper diagnosis. All other causes for memory loss and confusion should be ruled out first. See a neurologist, even two, to double check. Many other less devastating diseases can cause memory trouble. Treatment depends on your diagnosis and your overall health. There are often ways to slow/manage progression, many behavioral. Ask experts!

The meds: ONLY work on the early stages. https://www.nia.nih.gov/alzheimers/publication/alzheimers-disease-medications-fact-sheet this would be the best source of info. BUT also, 1) general exam and rule out depression, urinary tract infection, thyroid, anemia, b12, alcoholism, prescriptions, heroin, etc (Yeah, I've had ALL of these masquerade) 2) increase stimulation (rule out vision and hearing)
