LYME: only blood work would be able to tell that, usually a rash is present as well

Flu like symptoms: If you have a bacterial infection, or a spirochetal infection like Lyme disease, antibiotics will help. If your flu like symptoms are due to the flu, antibiotics are not helpful. Influenza needs to run its course. There are meds which need to be given early in the illness to help.
