Does this happen: frequently, like once a day or every few hours, or is it a one time thing? Nerve entrapment can cause strange feelings like numbness and tingling but is usually accompanied by pain. A venous blood clot in the back of your thigh can cause swelling, numbness and heat along with pain. Thanks for trusting in HealthTap.

There are several: ...nerves that provide sensation to the back and outer sides of the thighs. Without further information, it's not possible to figure out what's causing this warm sensation. If the problem persists, worsens or is associated with other systems, you should see a doctor. If you have any conditions like diabetes that can cause problems like this (peripheral neuropathy), consult your doctor.
