A member asked:

What causes muscle spasms in abdominal and chest walls and how do i get relief? can a physiatrist do "dry needling" in the abdomen? i have cmt & eds. the cmt lead to nerve palsy & restrictive airway

Yes: Trigger point injections can be administered into the specific areas of tense muscles. Use a marker pen and place dots at the specific spots of pain prior to your doctor visit. The medicine will sting when it hits the spasm. The concern in the chest cavity is not puncturing a lung. A short needle should be used in this area. Doable by someone with experience. ultrasound or c arm commonly used.
