Can there be blood clots of a small size that travel throughout the body but that do no harm?

Probably: At autopsy, it's common to find a few tiny ones in the lungs, which is where they generally get trapped. Actually, though, in health we think this is uncommon -- the balance of coagulation and anticoagulation works pretty well most of the time.
