See answer below: Your description is consistent with "Cellulitis" which occurs when bacteria, most commonly streptococcus and staphylococcus, enter through a crack or break in your skin. This is potentially a serious infection especially if affects the tissues underneath your skin or gets into your bloodstream. Usually requires antibiotics and recommend immediate evaluation by an MD or ER.
