A member asked:

I have a vp shunt and i keep hearing bubbles in the tubing or valve what does this mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bubbles equal: air in the shunt, which is probably not a horrible thing but has the VP shunt been "accessed" recently? There should not be air inside the shunt - it goes into the peritoneal cavity not into a colon or small intestine. But ask your surgeon if air inside the tube is a bad thing.
